Big-company rigor, without the big-company build.
Sequoia exists to take what works inside large enterprise data teams and apply the right amount of it to companies that are nothing like them.
Sequoia Data Consulting is a data architecture practice based in South Lyon, Michigan, working with small and mid-size companies across sectors.
The practice is built on more than twenty years inside enterprise data teams at companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and General Motors — environments where the data estate is large enough that architecture decisions have consequences, and where you find out quickly which patterns survive contact with production.
That background is useful here for a specific reason. Knowing the full enterprise playbook is what makes it possible to say which parts of it a smaller company should skip. Most of the damage we see was done by well-intentioned architecture that was simply too big for the business carrying it.
So the work is deliberately sized. We take the patterns that earn their complexity, apply them where they pay off, and leave the rest on the shelf.
